December seemed to sneak up on us, then disappear before we could blink an eye! I guess that’s how the holidays are. They come and go so fast, but even in the whirlwind, we were able to create some memories and have a wonderful month.
It all started the day after Thanksgiving. DECORATING! The girls really got into it this year. They especially loved putting the ornaments on the tree. Well, Avery actually preferred sitting in the tree box…
Here’s their cluster of ornaments.
I got the wrapping done pretty early in the season. The girls usually wake up before I did, so this was the scene when I finally made it downstairs…
They built a fort with the presents! The girls never even attempted to open the gifts early, but they loved putting up walls and making pretend homes. The imaginations of these girls never ceases to amaze me. They are too funny.
One of the favorite December memories is our breakfast with Santa Claus. He just happened to come to our local YMCA about a week before Christmas. The girls were excited about it for weeks. I wasn’t able to get a good picture of Anika when she first spotted him, but her expression was priceless. She was completely Star-Struck!
This was Anika’s letter to Santa. It says, “I am thankful for my bed. May I please have a princess scooter.”
Brinley wasn’t exactly sure what to think of Santa, but she definitely loved his beard!
One of our Family Home Evening activities was making a Ginger Bread House. I don’t know what the girls liked more; decorating the house, or sneaking the treats…
Brinley had a lot of fun during that activity as well…
Of course Christmas morning was the highlight of the month. The girls were so sweet. We had church at 11:00 in the morning, and had planned on finishing with the presents before going to church, but it didn’t happen. The girls had so much fun with their Santa presents that we didn’t even touch the tree until after church! It was almost like we had two different Christmas mornings!
These little swords led to hours and hours of Christmas day entertainment. Thank you, Target dollar section!
Brinley had a wonderful first Christmas. I took more pictures of her than I did of anything else!
That about sums up our Holidays! Sorry, grandmas and grandpas, that it took me so long to post these pictures. I’ll try and be more on top of things this year. :)
After church we took a few pictures of the girls. Enjoy!
As you can see, we had a great Christmas. We love being with extended family, but we much prefer to have our own little family in our own home. This Christmas was perfect. We hope your holidays were just as joyous.
