Actually, forget the for sale part. I think I'm giving her away for free. I know that Anika looks very cute and all, but oh boy. She's a stinker! It's been a long couple of weeks. I can't help but think, "Why did we do this to ourselves?" Meaning, have children. In fact, it's more like, "Sean, why did you do this to ME?!" And yes, I have asked him that many times lately. Hopefully you all know me well enough to know that I do love Anika, and I really am happy to be a mommy. Honest. But really, why don't people tell us how hard it actually is?! So not fun!
I didn't realize how frustrated and mean I've been until I started really listening to Anika. Here are a few quotes from the little monster.
"Be nice, Mommy!"
In preparation for family prayer, Anika said, "Avery. Fold your arms. NOW!"
This was my favorite. While cuddling on the couch with both of the girls, Avery reached over and grabbed Anika's face. Anika said, "Be nice, baby, or go to Time Out!"
Yeah, maybe it's time to chill out, but what I would really like is a two week long vacation, without the babies. Isn't it distance that makes the heart grow fonder? I could really use some distance. These girls don't even let me use the bathroom alone. Privacy? What's that?
I wish I had something more to report on, but this is life. Anika just got over pink-eye, and I'm pretty sure that Avery is just now coming down with it. It's going to be another great week...
Oh Angell, I couldn't help but to laugh (a sympathy laugh!) when I read this! I have asked those questions before too, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! I was just telling Kip the other day how much I would LOVE a little break from my two girls.
ReplyDeleteTaking care of your girls with pink eye sounds rough...I sure hope you guys are doing okay! Good luck!
I promise that I will take your daughters from you to give you a vacation soon! How about next year when Avery is a little older and me and Sean both are on break from school, then I can stay at your house for you while you and Sean have a Vaca!
ReplyDelete(You just have to promise to return the favor when I am in your shoes in 10 years!) :)
she is soooo cute! And her hair is curly!!! YEAH!!!
ReplyDeleteOH girl....yes, this is motherhood. And don't you love how after a frustrating day you see them lying in their beds so sweet and fall in love all over again with them? (then run to your bed!) ;) My sis lives in KS and she and I call each other at least a couple times of week asking if the other is interested in two new children (She has two girls between my two boys). Jayden is into giving me the LOOKS I give him now...not just the things I say...oh it's fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally understand how you are feeling!! I have been thinking the same thing- why didn't anyone tell me how hard raising kids really is? Which makes me think how do some couples have a lot of kids...and why? And my are still very young. I have been needing a break too and I have been counting down the months until Jacob starts all-day kindergarten- less than 2 months :). It seems like every year gets harder and harder. Hopefully it will start getting easier or maybe I will get more used to it so it will seem easier :). Don't get me wrong, I love my boys, but I just wanted to tell you that I know what you mean.
ReplyDeletei love you! Aunt Denise
ReplyDeleteI'll open the bidding at 2 million kisses!
ReplyDeleteOh, Angell!! I soooo miss you!! You are so wonderful!! I love ya, girl!
ReplyDeleteSend them my way! They'd totally make it on a bus...
ReplyDeleteI found you!!! That is awesome, we all have those days! I adore you!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you have a blog! I know how you feel with this post. One time when I disciplined Carson he said, "I hate everyone in this room except Dad and Beckett! That only left me.
